Travel Skincare Tips

If you spend a lot of time on an airplane you know the feeling of that tight, dry skin once you land. It’s the worst! Good thing is I have some tips on how to keep your skin feeling hydrated at 30,000 feet so you land glowing and refreshed.

1. Start out the night before to prep your skin! Exfoliate your body (Kopari coconut scrub) and your face (ExfoliKate) so you slough off that dry skin off. Once you’re out of the shower MOISTURIZE right away! I recommend using an oil or heavy moisturizer on your body overnight like Kopari Coconut Melt or Cetaphil Cream.  Then apply an overnight moisturizer to your face to hydrate your skin as much as possible (Origins overnight cream)

2. On the morning of cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and use serums! Face serums are lightweight moisturizers that penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients into your skin. I recommend using serums with hyaluronic acid and/or ceramides before your trip to help your skin retain moisture. Apply a moisturizer on after if your skin still feels dry.

3. I try to not wear much makeup when flying as it always just dries out my skin. A like to pack a tinted moisturizer with me which leaves skin refreshed but still hides some imperfections. I put this on right before I land and after the following steps. I love using under eye masks on the plane before landing (NO SHAME)! The elevation and dryness always makes my eyes look tired so with a little under eye mask and some eye drops you’ll be looking as good as new. I then spritz my face with a dewy skin mist to eliminate any dullness and get my skin glowing! This is when I put on my tinted moisturizer so I’m ready to get off the plane and go!

One other step I do if I’m on a plane for a long time or know I’m going to shower when I get to the hotel is a hair mask. The Living Proof Overnight Hair Cap is fabulous. It’s lightweight so you can put it on and go without it looking greasy at all. It enhances shine, vibrancy, and hydrates your hair. It also smells fabulous so the person next to you will love you!

4. Lastly, you can do the following steps right when you get to the hotel if you have time or that night. I like to put on a plumping face mask with HA and Vitamin C serum to brighten. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, so it naturally helps to strengthen your skin and repel things that could damage it. It’s one of my all time favorite products. I also like to bring my mini coconut melt and lip love to put on overnight to hydrate my body and lips after a long travel day. If you do all of the above you will wake up looking glowing, hydrated and ready to take on your vacation!!

I hope this helps! Feel free to add any comments or questions on your skin!
