Mykonos is THE hot spot right now! It’s a combination of luxury, elegance and of course, partying. I’d say it’s a mix between St. Tropez and Ibiza. The beautiful white boutique hotels meet the bluest blues of the Aegean Sea giving it a backdrop that’s mesmerizing. Many of the day clubs turn into night clubs and stay open past 7am in the morning. Good news is that you can catch the breathtaking sunrise as you make your way home!
I traveled with a good girlfriend and we ended up extending our stay from 4 nights to 7 nights. Once we mentioned this to fellow travelers we found that many other people did the same thing. We even met some that had been there for a month! It’s just one of those magical places you never want to leave.
Stay//
Petasos Beach Hotel & Spa (Where I stayed) – I absolutely love this newly renovated boutique hotel. It’s sophisticated, breathtaking and on a private peninsular surrounded by the Aegean Sea which gives it incredible sea views. It has a stunning pool, sleek modern spa, & gourmet Greek cuisine. The location couldn’t be more perfect. It’s right in between two of my favorite day clubs, Scorpios and Nammos. You can walk to both but you have to be careful as the drivers are a bit reckless.

We went on a beautiful sunset catamaran cruise with Mykonos Sailing! It was perfection from start to finish. They picked us up with a private driver at our hotel and brought us to the pier where we took a small tender to the catamaran. We were then greeted by the staff and given a nice glass of prosecco to start the adventure. They brought us to three different coves and gave us some history on each one. We were able to swim, relax and enjoy the beautiful views. They then made a delicious greek salad and steamed some mussels for us! They were delicious! They also had some Ouzo to have with our meal. The staff was fabulous – they were fun to be around and very professional. I would highly recommend using their services if you are traveling to Mykonos.
Go into town:
The town has many small restaurants, shops and bars. It’s a great place to walk around and take in the beautiful greek architecture and buy some souvenirs for home.
The only drawback with Mykonos is their lack of taxis. There were many nights when we were told there were no taxis available and we had to either wait or try to get a private driver to get us to our destination. Everyone rents cars but to me it seemed dangerous as the drivers are reckless but if you are used to driving with no rules you’ll probably be fine driving. You can also rent scooters or four -wheelers.
Wear//
The roads are all cobblestone and uneven so don’t even think about wearing heels here. I lived in my flat sandals which was actually kind of nice. It was really hot when we were there so a nice summer dress and a pair of flats was the summer uniform…and of course swimsuits!
