Monarch Beach Travel Guide

The Monarch Beach Resort offers everything  you could ask for out of a 5 start experience. Whether you love beautiful grounds, live for a round of golf with an ocean view, are a foodie to the max or are planning on proposing to a loved one, Monarch Beach Resort offers everything you desire, wrapped in a bow of impeccable service. While the resort itself is not necessarily beach front, the hilltop ocean views are out of this world, and there is constant tram service that takes you directly to the beach if desired. If you have been thinking of taking a trip along the coast to sunny Southern Orange County, this is your sign to do it!

The Rooms

Rooms at the Monarch Beach Resort take the word “Zen” to a whole new level. Whether you are staying in a guest room or a suite, you cannot go wrong with any room at this property. While the property does require a resort fee for each stay, guests are happy to pay it when they learn it allows them unlimited participation in Miraval group fitness classes, 24 hour access to the Athletic Club, beach host service, complimentary bike rentals, tennis court access, preferred green fees, tram access, and Cadillac Escalade house car service.

Guestrooms: Monarch Beach Resort has some of the best guest rooms out there. Roomy, a calming color palette, robes, and a private balcony make the Monarch Beach Resort Guestrooms feel like your home away from home. If you will be visiting in the winter, opt for the Fireside Terrace upgrade which features a cozy fire pit on the patio for you and your loved one to enjoy.

Suites: If you prefer a little more living space, Monarch Beach Resort Suites are absolutely perfect. Private balconies, deep soaking tubs, and a beautiful sitting room make these rooms perfect for a few days of luxurious relaxation. Upgrade to the Grand One Bedroom Suite to enjoy hardwood floors, two private balconies, two bathrooms, and a living room. This is the perfect suite to entertain another couple before an enjoyable night out.

Penthouse Suites: If you are looking for an opulent and luxurious experience, the Monarch Beach Resort Penthouse Suites are calling your name. With multiple balconies overlooking the Pacific Ocean, an expansive terrace with a fire pit for entertaining company, a dinning table with enough room for family or friends, a walk-in closet, and a steam shower make these rooms a thing of dreams.

The Restaurants

33°North:  This restaurant is the heart of the Monarch Beach Resort. Sectioned off to create a bar, a living room salon, and an outdoor ocean view patio, this restaurant offers a little something for everyone, no matter what vibe you are in the mood for.

Monarch Bay Beach Club: This is the newest restaurant on the property and located perched just above the beach. Quality ingredients with a unique twist on how they are prepared, this is the perfect place to grab Sunday brunch before heading down to the oceanfront fire pits with full service.

Aveo Table + Bar: Casual elegance is the best way to describe Aveo Table + Bar. Al fresco ocean view dining is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every Sunday evening, guests can enjoy Sunday Supper, complete with a three-course menu of fresh ingredients created by Chef Greg Noble.

Bourbon Steak: This was hands down the best restaurant on the Monarch Beach Resort property, and possibly in Orange County. As a Michael Mina restaurant, you know this restaurant will deliver every single time. While the seafood is amazing, the steak variety is the main start here. The Waygu is perfectly cooked and has a flavor unlike any other steak. Be sure to request outdoor seating if it isn’t too cold so you can hear the waves crashing as you enjoy your meal.

The Amenities

Spa: If you are ready for a day of rest and relaxation, the Monarch Beach Resort spa is an absolute must visit. Enjoy some self-love and pampering while your loved one enjoys a round of golf with an ocean view.

Golf: The Monarch Beach Resort golf course is one of the most beautiful in Orange County. Designed by world-renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., this set of 18 holes will have you feeling like you are in paradise. Whether you are a beginner, or perfecting your game, there is no way you could not enjoy a day under the Orange County sun overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Don’t forget to stop by the award winner retail shop to pick up some new golf apparel. And, end the day with drinks at the 19th hole that has a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

Beach Club: This private beach club offers everything guests could ever imagine. From chair and towel service to make your beach day a breeze to surf lessons and live music, the Monarch Beach Club is the epitome of what it means to vacation in Southern California. Don’t worry about the trek down from the hotel, there is a private tram to make your trip as easy as possible.

Resort Pools: Is there anything better than a gorgeous pool with ocean views? The Monarch Pool is an all-ages pool the whole family can enjoy. Complete with lounge chairs, day beds, and cabanas, this is the perfect place to lay out and tan. The Family Pool isn’t too deep and is specially designed for children. It comes complete with a spray ground next door. If you are trying to get away from the kids for the weekend, the Adults-only Spa Lap Pool is for you. Available to guests who purchase a treatment, this Spa Lap Pool is the perfect getaway for any parents or couples.

E-Bike Tours: E-bikes are all the rage in Orange County. Don’t miss out on this exciting activity where you can experience a ride on an e-bike while getting a tour of the surrounding beauty. Tours do require reservations so make sure you book in advance.

Enjoying the Grounds: Possibly my favorite part of Monarch Beach was the gardens. Most people don’t take the time to enjoy the beautiful ocean view gazebo and gardens but it is well worth the trip. You can take the tram down if you don’t feel like walking, or casually stroll through the pool area and down into the garden to walk off all the amazing meals you’ll be eating throughout your stay.
